Refractometer

Refractometers are the instrumental devices that are used to determine the index of refraction of a liquid substance. These are widely used in industries like food and beverage, by the gemmologists in the jewellery industry and in medical labs to measure the concentration of blood. They can also be used to measure the salinity and specific gravity of water inside the aquarium and small fish tank to maintain the quality of the liquid. Refractometers works by focussing a light source which is usually a LED bulb onto the surface of prism via a lens system or an interference filter to give a specified wavelength. They are available in various different designs with manual and automatic control.
